And speaking of mustard, did you know that yellow mustard has been known to alleviate muscle and joint pain?

I know! Crazy, right?

Could eating mustard miraculously help us wear our Manolos with less misery?

Little research has been done to confirm why mustard - particularly yellow mustard - works to relieve cramps and pain.

:: Some believe it's all about the sodium.
There’s about 200 mg of sodium in one tablespoon of mustard, which is the same as eight ounces of Gatorade Endurance, so a couple packets of mustard can provide a good dose of sodium to cure cramping.

:: Some believe it's all about the sensory fibers in the mouth.
Studies have shown that mustard and other spicy foods activate sensory fibers in the mouth and overload the nervous system to calm down the spinal cord and diminish the frequency and duration of muscle cramps and pain.

:: Still others believe its because of mustard seed.
The mustard seed is a good source of selenium, magnesium, and omega-3 fatty acids, all of which have been linked to improving arthritis symptoms.

:: Yet others think it's because of tumeric.
Yellow mustard is also made with turmeric, which contains curcumin, a known powerful anti-inflammatory compound.

While most claim consuming mustard is best, you can also make a mustard paste if you're not a fan of the taste.
